TED - Film Review

I have been dying to see this film ever since I saw the trailer back in April. Unfortunately, it was released in the US almost a month before it was here, so I finally got to see it the other day.

Plot

John (Mark Wahlberg) makes a wish one Christmas night to bring his one and only friend, his teddy bear Ted (Seth MacFarlane), to life. The next morning he wakes up to find that his wish came true. They make a pact to be "thunder buddies" for life. Twenty seven years later, John has to make a decision to either stay with his girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis) or remain friends with Ted.

Review
This film is rated 15's in Ireland, and for good reason. It's written and direction by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane so of course it's going to be incredibly rude and crude. If that's not your cup of tea, then you're definitely not going to like this film one bit. If you can take a joke though, there's no doubt that's you'll love this. As well if you watch Family Guy like myself, it may take some time getting used to the fact that Ted is voiced by the same person who voices Peter and Lori is played by the same person who voices Meg. Mark Wahlberg is also known mainly for his action films so it's definitely a bit strange seeing him in a comedy like this.
The film, which was originally called "Thunder Buddies", had a $50,000,000 budget and made over $54,000,000 in it's opening weekend in the US alone. I'm obviously not going to give away the ending to those of you who haven't seen it yet, but it does have a bit of a dramatic ending to say the least.
This is somewhat off-topic but for those of you who have seen it, Mark came up with the list of names for the 'white trash name scene'. He did it within a few takes without any cue cards which I found pretty amazing.
Overall, I found this to be an incredibly hilarious movie and if you can put up with the rudeness of it, I would definitely recommend watching it without a doubt.
